It has three lighting options, and each one is unique. The first setting offers a bright light, perfect for general illumination. The second option mimics the gentle flicker of a candle, it’s absolutely beautiful and creates a cozy atmosphere. The third is a steady white light. The vase itself is made of thick, durable glass and feels quite heavy, which is reassuring. I’ve used it outside, and even in wind, it stays upright! The build quality is excellent, and I’ve used it for hours without needing to charge it, just had to charge it for the first time after a few weeks. While it doesn’t have a USB port, it does feature a C port for charging, which works great. If you're considering this, it's a gorgeous and reliable piece.
We're hardwired to prefer light over darkness, which makes a table lamp or accent lighting a good thing for most people. I personally love a good accent light. A nice warm glow where there might otherwise be none. And this lamp allows for light even where there are no power outlets - in the middle of a room, on a table or shelf with no good access to power even if outlets are nearby, outside on a patio table, etc. - offering complete flexibility in placement.
This particular lamp is unique, obviously, in that it can be used as a flower vase. I don't think I'll be using it that way, but I might change my mind on that. Who knows? For now, I like it with the cap on the top in more of what I would call "candle mode."
There are so many dark-ish places this lamp could be placed. I took a few pictures in different locations, although I haven't yet settled on one. I like it everywhere. I may have to get a couple more. The typical place for a battery powered lamp is going to be where there's no convenient power outlet (like on a bookshelf) or where you don't want a power cord getting in the way (like on a patio coffee table) or where a power cord would detract from the overall aesthetic of the room (like on a sofa table). Wherever you put this, it will look great and will light up the space nicely.
I prefer the warmer color temperature setting, and I also like the warm flicker setting. It's sort of a slow flicker, and it's kind of cool. Definitely a good mode for outdoor use. For indoors, the warm setting is a bit too orange, so it won't really match your other warm white light (like the common 2700K color temperature light often described as "warm white"). It's really close to campfire orange.
I really like the way this vase lights up. That's thinking out of the box. And it's bright enough to be more than a night light. Bright enough to be more than a mood light. But at the same time I would not say this would be a good reading lamp. It's not that bright.
I like the use of the metal housing for the base. A metal cap is also included if you don't want to use it as a vase. The end result is a little off though, like a fake candle. The vase itself is made of frosted plastic. In hindsight, I would have preferred the vase to be crystal clear. I think that may have worked better when filled with water. But the frosted one still looks good.
There's a touch power button. I thought they could have done away with that and just used the entire base as the touch control, like those old lamps in the 80s.
Overall, I still think this vase makes a wonderful addition to any mantle or outdoor table.
